Alison Chan Downer was born and raised in Leeds, UK.
She studied Fine Art at Central St Martins, graduating in 1998, going on to work in a restoration studio where she developed a particular interest in the restoration of chinese hand-painted wallpapers. To support this Alison completed an MA in Conservation at Camberwell College of Arts, specialising in paints and pigment analysis.
Over the last ten years she has specialised in buildings conservation and completed projects ranging from large public spaces to small private commissions. She works solo and alongside architects, heritage bodies, public galleries companies and individuals in the UK and abroad. Alongside her commissions, Alison continues to make her own paintings.
